More Details on Poker Room
PokerRoom History
Poker Room was established in 1999 as a poker tournament site for play money only, and did not offer real money play until 2001. In 2003, it undertook a major site upgrade and complemented its limit Hold'em poker games with pot limit Hold'em and no limit Hold'em, and to add to that, Omaha and 7-Card Stud in both hi and hi-lo games. PokerRoom provides arguably the most statistical information in poker tournament sites, including a statistical analysis of starting hands as well as tests on large databases of other hands played on site. Also check out PokerRoom's vibrant poker community at Pokah.com.
Poker Tournaments and Traffic
Most of the PokerRoom traffic is concentrated on the Hold'em and tournament section. Tournament traffic is 400 to 500 at peak hours, with the site offering both multi- and single-table tournaments. Ring game traffic is 300 to 400 at peak hours, which has picked up since the launching of Omaha and 7-Card Stud in both hi and hi-lo games.
Poker Games
Since 2003, PokerRoom has offered not only limit Hold'em but also pot limit Hold'em and no limit Hold'em games. To add to that, it also has Omaha and 7-Card Stud games in both hi and hi-lo variations. The games are quite juicy.
Poker Software and Graphics
Clean, uniquely sleek, and reliable, PokerRoom's poker software and graphics are considered by many online poker players as the leader. Its software is available as standard Windows download and as a Java applet (no download), which is the most recommended for Linux and Mac users who otherwise need a Windows emulator. The statistics functionality on played hands in its variety of poker games is good, with extra features like an hourly win/loss rate and Big Bets won or lost. However, the lobby information is scattered so that users must click on each table to view flop percentages or the average pot and hands per hour.
