The 23 year-old Vanessa Rousso is an honors graduate of Duke University, and has spent the past year splitting her time between studying law at the University of Miami and representing Team PokerStars in a the bustling poker tournament circuit.
Borin in White Plains, New York, Vanessa Rousso has been playing poker since she was five years old, and most poker aficionados started to take notice of her young phenomenal talent when she started to make constant final table appearance in tournaments on the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour circuits. At age 22, she became the youngest woman to ever make a final table in a World Series event.
With her name becoming familiar to many people, the entire poker world stood up and took notice when Vanessa Rousso made a storybook run at the 2006 World Poker Tour Championship. Vanessa Rousso was well on her way to making the televised final table when she suffered a bad beat and went out in seventh place, where she earned more than $260,000.
Vanessa Rousso’s most recent achievement was a second place finish in the PokerStars World Championship of On-line Poker (WCOOP) main event, which was participated in by nearly 3,000 players. Vanessa Rousso earned $850,000+ for that 2nd place finish.
At the moment, Vanessa Rousso is touring around with fellow Team PokerStars players like Joe Hachem and Daniel Negreanu as part of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), which will be having its next stop in Macau for the first ever major poker tournament to be held in the People’s Republic of China.
Vanessa Rousso has a dual citizenship in the USA and in France, and she can speak a number of different languages.
