It was during that time that she met poker golden boy, Daniel Negreanu, who eventually became her friend and poker mentor.

For her 21st birthday, Negreanu took Evelyn to Las Vegas where she mingled with professional poker players who made their living entirely off poker. She soon decided to move to Vegas and immediately got a job as a blackjack and poker dealer. Her work enabled her to watch players and their playing styles, this helped her work on her game and build up a bankroll in her hopes to enter a poker tournament.

In 2003, Evelyn entered a satellite tournament for the World Poker Tour Ladies Night event and won a seat. She ended up finishing second place at the championship event, beating fellow female poker players including Jennifer Harman, Kathy Liebert and Annie Duke .

Her other poker achievements in the coming days will include 11th at the 2005 Borgata Poker Open and 7th place at the Calvin Ayre Wild Card Poker Tournament in 2006.

Early this year, Evelyn officially became a member of Team Bodog Poker. She and fellow members Josh Arieh, David Williams, and champion Jamie Gold, represented Bodog at the 2006 World Series of Poker Championship event.
