Kathy Liebert is one of the pioneers among women poker players. She is the first woman ever to win a tournament with a first prize of $1,000,000.

Kathleen H. Liebert grew up in Long Island in New York and attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie where she earned a bachelors degree in business and finance. She was hired by top firm Dun & Bradstreet, but soon felt unhappy with corporate life. She soon left and tried her luck in stock investments, which proved successful. Her stocks earnings allowed her to quit her job and travel the country.

Poker Player Kathy Liebert.She began her poker career in Colorado in 1991 as a prop, a player who is paid by the house to play. Finally in 2004 she started playing tournament poker. In 2002, she won the first Party Poker Million event , the first texas holdem limit poker tournament with a $1 million prize. She then made several final tables of the World Poker Tour (WPT), including a third place finish in the 2005 Borgata Poker Open, making her the highest finishing woman in the WPT.

As of 2006, Kathy has one World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet and over $3,600,000 in tournament winnings. She has won more prize money in open field tournaments than any other woman player in poker history.

Kathy continue to actively compete inmajor poker tournaments around the US and other countries. And a lthough she has made a career and fortune out of poker, she still uses her financial acumen to invest in the stock market.
