Matt Maroon's The Poker Chronicles
The Poker Chronicles is one of the more popular blogs dealing with poker and has been in existence since 2004. The blog was created by Matt Maroon who is a 25 year old poker player, writer, and webmaster.
Maroon is a professional poker player often present in many major tournaments and hanging out with other pros.
The Poker Chronicles basically illustrates Maroon's poker tournament playing, tips, insights, and his other escapes relating to the game. In his earlier articles, he defended his and others' choice to leave their day jobs to play poker full-time:
"Deciding to play poker for a living is a gamble just like anything else. To make the correct decision you must consider your odds of success, how much success would be worth, and how much failure would cost you. Of course almost everyone considers their odds of success to be very high, and this undoubtedly untrue. However for many people failure would simply mean a little wasted money and a little wasted time, essentially nothing.
"So for many people it is a freeroll with potentially high rewards, and in that case why not go for it. As long as you have accurately judged the price of failure to be nothing substantial (i.e. your job is replaceable, you will not end up homeless) give it a shot."
Maroon also plays online and players may encounter him practicing his poker skills at the Party Poker site. He will soon release his first book, entitled Winning Texas Hold'em.
This guy also owns and operates a website called rakesucks.com, one of the largest "rakeback" websites, which helps online poker players reduce the fees they pay to internet card rooms.
