Poker star Carlos Mortensen won the 2007 WPT Championship at Bellagio in Las Vegas collecting almost $4 million for first place and made history by shattering a few records and setting new ones. WPT host Mike Sexton calls his accomplishment “an impossible feat that might never be matched.”

With this achievement, Mortensen became the first and only player to have won a WPT World Championship and a WSOP Main Event. He also became the first player to collect over $5 million in career tournament earnings at Bellagio.

Search engine giant Yahoo! has announced it will launch its own real money online poker room hosted at yahoo.co.uk. The site is a partnership between Yahoo! and St. Minver Ltd., a gaming group located in Gibraltar. The poker site will be a part of the International Poker Network owned and operated by Sweden’s Boss Media AB.

The Yahoo! UK & Ireland Games Web site also supports real money online Bingo.

With the 2007 World Series of Poker just around the corner, Bodog Poker has announced the coming of the biggest freeroll tournament in UK where British World Series Champion hopefuls can take a shot at having their $10,000 buy-in fee paid for, along with $2,000 for travel and accommodation by winning an online freeroll tournament on May 7, 2007 at 8:05pm GMT.
