The VOid Is Stripped Of WCOOP Main Event Champion Title!
On-line poker forums have been abuzz for two weeks regarding the investigation by PokerStars.com into “cheating” allegations about The VOid winning the PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker Main Event. PokerStars had confirmed that TheV0id had indeed been disqualified, bumping all other finishers up one spot. The body of the text posted by a PokerStars security representative read as follows:
“The investigation into the WCOOP Main Event has now been concluded. We have determined, based on the totality of evidence, that the tournament winner “TheV0id” was in breach of the PokerStars Terms of Service.
In the interests of Game Integrity, “TheV0id” has been disqualified from first place.
All other WCOOP Main Event prizewinners in addition to the player who originally bubbled in 415th place will therefore advance one place in the prize pool. The necessary financial adjustments to reflect the revised tournament places will be made within the next 24 hours.”

Because of this decision, WCOOP Main Event runner-up ka$ino is now crowned as the WCOOP Main Event Championship, and collects a $1.378 million first prize, an increase of over $530,000 from his previous winnings. PokerStars-sponsored pro Vanessa ‘LadyMaverick’ Rousso jumps from third to second for an increase of nearly $250,000, and poker pro Josh Arieh, who confirmed his identity as original sixth-place finisher ‘nitbuster’ moves up to fifth-place and earns an extra $75,000.
While PokerStars have not revealed what evidence and in what manner The VOid was caught for violating Game Integrity, it is very comforting for everyone engaged in online poker to know that there are checks and measures being done to assure that online poker can maintain its integrity. Given today’s advances in computer technology and hacking, and all sorts of means and ways that people hope to cheat the on-line system, it’s great that PokerStars indeed has the capabilities of making sure that they run a fair business, and that they can assure the millions of online poker players that they won’t be cheated. The card dealers in online poker rooms may just be digital animation, but definitely somewhere there, there’s still a pit boss checking out the games.
Cheaters beware!
