CrazyZachary wins Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS V Main Event

Jabba.jpgCrazyZachary pockets almost $400K in Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS V Main Event.

Full Tilt Poker just recently had their Full Tilt of Poker Series V (FTOPS V), which featured 14 on-line poker tournaments of different variations and buy-ins, and a total collective prize pool that hit the roof somewhere near $8.5 Million dollars - just about how much Greenbay Packers’ QB Brett Favre makes in a year tossing around the pigskin.

For the FTOPS V Main Event, Full Tilt Poker had a guaranteed prize pool of more than $2.2 Million - the same amount a Canadian paid for the oldest hockey stick said to have been carved in the 1850’s and sits in the Hockey Hall of Fame. Canadians and their hockey…

Anyway, the FTOPS V Main Event drew in 4,578 players who were all hopeful to win the first prize payout of $395,905 dollars - roughly what I paid for my 40-foot pimping yacht, The Saga 409. At least 648 players would be a bit satisfied to be in the money for as low as $600 bucks, but yeah — first prize of almost $400K could get you into a respectable neighborhood.

The No Limit Texas Hold’em freezeout tournament kicked off last Sunday, August 19th at 6PM ET, and was hosted by Full Tilt Poker Pro Paul Wasicka, winner of the 2007 National Heads-Up Championship and 2nd placer at the 2006 WSOP Main Event. To say it went on for a couple of hours is an understatement. The thing didn’t finish until about 7 o’clock the next day when the blinds were hitting the 300,000 mark. I was on my way to another Puff Daddy after-after party and couldn’t get the laptop charged in the friggin’ limo. But anyway…CrazyZachary wins FTOPS V Main Event and $395K

It was said  that Full Tilt Poker Pro Steve Brecher made ITM in the FTOPS V Main Event with a not-so-bad 58th place finish, and a $4,000+ prize. Full Tilt Poker’s father-and-son tandem of Keith Sexton and his son Paul Sexton also made ITM with Paul Sexton having the better performance with a 25th place finish and an $8,000 prize - the best showing from the Full Tilt Pros, and still not a bad investment from a $500 buy-in. No other FTP Poker Pro made ITM except for these three. I’m even wondering if the other Full Tilt Poker pros played like Phil Gordon, Phil Ivey or Chris Ferguson, and if they did then I guess they didn’t do such a great job.

Full Tilt Poker tournament shark csimmsux, who won FTOPS V Event#13 was also in contention for the final table, but was unluckily busted out at 14th, and had to settle for a $16,000 prize. Still not bad. Go get your mother something nice.

Eventually, the top prize went to CrazyZachary who called Clayton_27’s A-9 all-in push with a pair of ladies. The ladies made a set on the flop, and CrazyZachary was crowned FTOPS V Main Event Champion, gets awarded a Golden Avatar and $395K richer. Clayton_27 was rewarded with $240,000+ for his 2nd place success.

Other winners from the final table of the Full Tilt Poker’s FTOPS V Main Event include: 3rd placer chardrian ($155,000+), 4th placer MFjimmyLOWRY ($120,000+), 5th pokerskibum ($90K+), 6th jbaggs ($60K+), 7th rppkoz ($50,000+), 8th kiwid10 ($40K+), and 9th chubbawubba ($25K+).
