2007 WSOP Starts Airing at ESPN
Monday, July 9th, 2007ESPN will start broadcasting its coverage of the 2007 World Series of Poker’s main event tournament currently running at the Rio Casino Hotel in Las Vegas starting July 10, Tuesday.
The first televised event, the $5,000 World Championship Mixed Hold’em event will be aired at 5 p.m PT/ 8 p.m. ET. The hour-long episode with be followed by a $1,500 no-limit hold’em event.
2007 WSOP Main Event Begins

After 54 events and millions aof money prizes won, the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event starts at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas on July 6. With some 12,000 players flocking from around the world to claim their stake at that prestigious WSOP gold bracelet and multi-million first prize!
The first four days of the tournament from july 6th until July 9th, will be considered day one. Each day will start with 3000 different players. By the fourth day, day two will finally have begun as the survivors will then begin playing on the same days. Day two is scheduled for July 10th, with days 3-7 on the subsequent days.
Ram Vaswani Triumphs at $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout
Thursday, July 5th, 2007Ram Vaswani of the Hendon Mob emerged victorious in the $1,500 Limit Shootout, Event 54 at the ongoing World Series of Poker tournaments at the Rio in Las Vegas. Vaswani managed to beat a field of 720 players who entered the event.
Vaswani captured $217,438, a Corum watch and his first WSOP gold bracelet for his victory.
Graves Defeats Tran for Event 52, $1,000 NLHE Title
Thursday, July 5th, 2007Michael Graves survived an original field of 1048 players and two days of intense action to make the final table of the $1,000 No Limit Holdem event (#53). Then eventually deading Theo Tran to take the WSOP bracelet and a $742,121 first prize check.
Graves is a 23-year-old medical student at the University of Texas-Southwestern. This was his first victory at the World Series of Poker.
PokerStars Kick Off Asia Pacific Poker Tour

Online poker giant, PokerStars, has launched Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT). From the Philippines to Australia, the tour will bring world-class poker action to some of the most exotic destinations and luxurious casinos in the world.
The Asia Pacific Poker Tour launch event will take place on on August 23-26 at the five star Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila in the Philippines with the second event moving on in Seoul, South Korea. These will be the first major televised poker tournaments held in both of these countries.
Dao Bac Claims $1,000 S.H.O.E Event
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007Dao Bac outlasted eight players at the final table of Event #51, $1,000 S.H.O.E., and claim his first WSOP bracelet along with thethe $157,975 at the ongoing WSOP tournaments in Las Vegas. Bac is also the first Vietnamese poker player to win a gold bracelet at this year’s WSOP.
This was Bac’s ninth tournament entry this year. He had yet to cash until this moment. Bac did cash twice last year, with winnings totaling just $5,000. Bac has been playing mostly cash games at casinos around San Diego and Los Angeles since 1990.
Robert Mizrachi Wins Omaha World Championship
Wednesday, July 4th, 2007Robert Mizrachi disappointed poker legend Doyle Brunson’s quest for an 11th bracelet to win the $1,000 Pot Limit Omaha event (#50) at the WSOP tournaments at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas. He also becomes the first Mizrachi brother to secure a gold WSOP bracelet.
The event started with 314 players including luminaries like Brunson, Patrik Antonius, Scotty Nguyen, Annie Duke and Greg Raymer. By Day 2 only 55 survived.
