The World Series Of Poker Europe Is Coming!

The World Series of Poker (WSOP), the world’s most prestigious poker tournament, is extending its reach this year when Harrah’s Entertainment launches the World Series of Poker Europe with the inaugural WSOP Europe scheduled to debut in London September 6-16, 2007.

The new tournament will be held at three casinos operated by London Clubs International - Fifty, Leicester Square and the Sportsman.

Best Poker Players Battle For the National Heads-Up Poker Championship

Sixty-four of the world’s best poker players are set to converge in Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace Poker Room on March 1-4 for the 3rd National Heads-Up Poker Championship 2007.

Returning to compete this year are some of the world’s top poker pros, like defending champion Ted Forrest; 2005 champion Phil Hellmuth; and Chris Ferguson, who will try to improve on his 2005 and 2006 runner-up status. Celebrity participants include Don Cheadle, Jennifer Tilly and Shannon Elizabeth.

Midwest Holds First Deaf Texas Holdem Poker Tournament

Deaf people from Illinois and surrounding states will compete in the area’s first Deaf Texas Hold’em poker tournament Sunday, February 25 at Hanging Gardens Banquets, River Grove. The winner and second place finisher each will win a free seats and all-expense paid trip to the 2007 World Series of Poker events at the Harrah’s Rio Hotel in Las Vegas.

“Our organization encourages deaf and hard of hearing individuals to communicate and interact in activities the same as hearing people,” said Ed Glennon, who said that the poker tournament is a great example along with other programs and activities offered by the West Suburban Association of the Deaf (WSAD).

World Series Of Poker Academy Opens

wsop_Logo.jpgLAS VEGAS– Harrah’s Entertainment and Casino, has launched the World Series of Poker Academy, a new instructional camp that offers participants an opportunity to learn first-hand from some of the poker world’s greatest players.

WSOP Academy instructors include 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth Jr., 2005 World Champion Joe Hachem, 2004 World Champion Greg Raymer, former FBI agent Joe Navarro - an expert on nonverbal behavior - and WSOP bracelet winners Scott Fischman and Mark Seif, among others.

Paradise Poker Shuts Down

paradise0.jpgOnline poker site, Paradise Poker, one of the first poker websites has shut down, it’s parent company Sportingbet announced Friday.

The company will retain its brand name but all existing Paradise players will be moved to the more lucrative Boss Media platform.

Paradise Poker took one of the biggest hits when it was forced to pull out of the US market due to the newly legislated Anti-Online Gambling Law.

Jamie Gold Settles WSOP Winnings Dispute

2006 World Series of Poker champion Jamie Gold has agreed to settle a dispute over half of the tournament’s $12 million grand prize with Crispin Leyser. Gold and Leyser has agreed the the matter should be resolved “without litigation.”

“Jamie always intended on sharing his winnings with Crispin,” a statement from Gold’s rep says. “Jamie and Crispin are happy to report they have fully settled this matter. They are pleased to be closing this chapter and look forward to continued success.”

Hershey’s Is Official Chocolate of World Series Of Poker

wsop_Logo.jpgThe Hershey’s Company, makers of chocolates and candy treats, ha ssigned an agreement with Harrah’s Entertainment to promote and be the Official Chocolate of the 2007 World Series of Poker.

“The No. 1 name in chocolate is now teamed with the No. 1 brand in poker,” said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker. “We are proud that Hershey has joined our growing family of sponsors.”
